Laser Engraving (and Cutting)

Laser-Cut Valet / Desk Trays (Birch Plywood)
These valet / desk trays were designed as functional everyday organizers, perfect for holding keys, pocket items, dice, or small desk accessories. Each tray is laser cut from birch plywood with precision tab-and-slot construction, then laser engraved with artwork featuring two of my favorite iconic “characters.”
This project combines clean laser-cut joinery with detailed engraving, turning a practical storage piece into a fun, personalized display item — and yes, both characters absolutely aim to misbehave. (Artwork sourced from royalty fee image sources, not for sale, rights retained by the artist).

Laser-Engraved Birch Business Card (Crow)
This project is a laser-engraved birch wood business card, designed as an alternative to traditional paper cards. The artwork features a highly detailed crow perched on a bare branch, engraved with deep shading and fine linework to bring out the texture of feathers and woodgrain.
Created as a fun concept piece — part gothic, part fantasy — this card shows how laser engraving can turn a simple material into a memorable, tactile design. It’s an ideal style for dark branding themes, tabletop characters, or anyone who wants their card to feel like a keepsake instead of a throwaway.

Laser-Engraved Acrylic Plaque (Rose Quote)
This piece is laser engraved on black acrylic, using an IR laser that produces a distinctive gold-toned engraving on this material. The design combines a clean, stylized rose with flowing script text, creating a high-contrast look that reads as both elegant and bold.
The quote reads:
“A life filled with love must have some thorns, but a life empty of love will have no roses.”
This acrylic engraving is a great example of how different laser types and materials can dramatically change the final look — with the IR laser giving this engraving a warm metallic tint rather than a flat white mark.

“Hexoskeleton” Resin-Finished Birch Sign
This piece was a commissioned sign I created for a friend and fellow maker, Hexoskeleton, using their original artwork.
The sign was laser engraved on birch plywood, then finished with TotalBoat resin to protect the surface and give it a durable, long-lasting finish suitable for display.
It was genuinely a privilege (and an honor) to be trusted with someone else’s work — especially for a brand that creates such beautiful natural art.
Hexoskeleton makes the incredible terrarium-style nature displays shown here.

Laser-Engraved Ceramic Tile (Crow Artwork)
This piece is a laser-engraved ceramic tile featuring a bold crow perched on a branching limb. The engraving captures crisp linework and strong contrast, making it ideal for display as wall art, shelf décor, or a tabletop accent.
The design is engraved from licensed artwork, demonstrating both detailed image engraving and clean results on ceramic. This project highlights how laser engraving can translate illustration-style artwork into a durable, high-contrast finished piece.

Laser-Engraved Ceramic Tile (Mushroom Grove Artwork)
This ceramic tile was laser engraved with a stylized mushroom grove design, using bold shapes and clean negative space to create a crisp, high-contrast finish. The engraving style gives the artwork a graphic, storybook feel — perfect for display as small wall art, shelf décor, or tabletop accent.
This piece is part of the same ceramic engraving set as the crow and other mushroom tiles, and is engraved from licensed artwork, showcasing clean, consistent results on ceramic.

Laser-Engraved Ceramic Tile (Mushroom Cluster Artwork)
This ceramic tile features a high-contrast mushroom cluster illustration, laser engraved for crisp edges and clean silhouette-style detail. The strong black engraving gives the piece a graphic, almost woodcut-like look that works especially well on the smooth ceramic surface.
Like the other tiles in this set, this design is engraved from licensed artwork and demonstrates detailed laser engraving on ceramic, producing a durable finished piece suitable for display as wall art, shelf décor, or tabletop accent.

Laser-Engraved Ceramic Tile (Fairy & Mushroom Artwork)
his ceramic tile was laser engraved with a whimsical fairy-and-mushroom illustration, using bold silhouettes and fine interior detail to create a clean, high-contrast finish. The design features a fairy seated on the cap of a large mushroom, with smaller mushrooms below — a fun fantasy piece that feels right at home in cottagecore or tabletop-inspired décor.
Like the other tiles in this series, this engraving uses licensed artwork and demonstrates crisp, consistent results on ceramic, producing a durable display piece for wall art, shelves, or tabletop decoration.

Laser-Engraved Ceramic Tile (Fairy on Mushroom Scene)
This ceramic tile features a larger, more detailed fairy illustration, laser engraved with clean linework and high-contrast shading. The design shows a fairy seated on a mushroom in a forest scene, with flowing hair, ornate wings, and small butterflies in the background.
This piece is engraved from licensed artwork and is part of the same ceramic tile series as the crow and mushroom designs. It highlights how well ceramic holds fine engraving detail, making it an ideal medium for fantasy-themed décor and display art.

Custom Laser-Engraved Birch Sign
his custom commission piece was laser engraved on birch wood, featuring a rustic sawmill illustration and bold text layout. After engraving, the recessed areas were backfilled with black powder coat, creating a strong high-contrast finish that makes the artwork and lettering stand out sharply against the natural wood grain.
The backfill technique gives the piece a clean, graphic look while also helping the engraved details remain readable from a distance. The result is a durable, professional sign with a classic workshop aesthetic—perfect for a shop wall, office, or entry display.

Laser-Engraved Metal Business Card (QR + Logo)
These custom business cards are laser engraved on black-coated metal, giving them a sleek, modern look with a high-end feel in-hand. The front features the Tam’s Workshop logo with the “Made by Hand” tagline, while the back is designed for real-world usability—featuring a scannable Instagram QR code and the email contact line: info@TamsWorkshop.studio
.
Laser engraving removes the black coating to reveal a crisp, high-contrast mark underneath, making both the logo and the QR code clean and readable.

Laser-Cut Miniature Display Rack (Birch Plywood)
This project is a laser-cut miniature display stand, made from birch plywood and designed with multiple staggered tiers to maximize display space without taking up much room on the table. The interlocking side supports and shelves slot together cleanly, creating a sturdy rack that’s ideal for storing, organizing, and showcasing painted tabletop miniatures.
This kind of build is one of my favorite “utility” laser projects: simple, functional, and endlessly customizable in size, tier count, and engraving options — whether for D&D, wargaming, or collectible minis.

Laser-Engraved Wooden Coaster (Dragon + Quote)
This round wooden coaster was laser engraved with a highly detailed dragon head centerpiece, surrounded by a quote that reads:
“May the bridges I burn today light my path tomorrow.”
The circular layout makes it a perfect coaster design—clean, balanced, and easy to read—while the dragon engraving adds a bold fantasy vibe that fits right at home on a D&D table. This is a great example of how laser engraving can capture fine line-art detail while still producing a practical, everyday-use item.

Laser Engraved Coaster – “Something tells me, that ship has sailed”
This round wooden coaster was laser engraved with an illustrated sailing ship being wrapped and crushed by kraken tentacles, creating a dramatic scene that feels straight out of a sea monster legend.
Wrapped around the top edge is the phrase: “Something tells me, that ship has sailed” — equal parts humor and doom, and honestly a pretty accurate summary of many tabletop adventures.
This piece is a fun blend of nautical fantasy and dry sarcasm, making it a great gift for D&D players, pirate-story fans, or anyone who appreciates a good “welp… too late now” moment.

Slate Coaster – D20 bad roll
This slate coaster was laser engraved with a D20 outline, with the number “1” centered inside—because sometimes the dice have other plans. The design is paired with the word “sh1t”, split on either side of the die for a clean, minimalist layout that still gets the joke across instantly.
The natural rough edge of the slate gives it a rugged, tavern-table vibe, making it a perfect tabletop accessory for D&D nights, game rooms, or as a gift for any player who has ever rolled a catastrophic nat 1.
